News, This page now displays some information about the actual 13th Panzer Division

[edit]
  • This page now displays information about the actual 13th Panzer Division that fought in World War II. A page for the gaming team known as the 13th panzer division should be made.The701man 16:23, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Merge

[edit]

This article can be merged with 13th Infantry Division (Germany)

This page should be merged with 13th Infantry Division (Germany), although I don't think it matters which title the information is retained under. Carom 21:24, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the point is that they are really the same unit - the 13th Infantry Division was reorganized as the 13th Panzer Division. The 13th Panzer was not a new creation, per se, and the two never served alongside each other.
If you don't have any objections, I'll go ahead and merge the two under 13th Infantry Division (Germany). Carom 21:40, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I think 13th Panzer Division (Germany) is probably the best title. Carom 20:43, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

War Crimes Refrence

[edit]

How solid is this refrence? It is an amateur geocities site and in Polish so I am unable to varify any of its sources. Anyone familiar with the site or speak Polish? If no one can verify it as a reliable source or introduce an alternative I am inclined to delete the section. NeoFreak 12:57, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1.144.97.122 (talk) 04:10, 29 April 2017 (UTC) Nothing the allies did during WW2 was tried as a war crime. Anything the Germans did was punished as a war crime, even if the allies did much worse. For example, the Germans executed 2,000 civilians in Poland but we are never informed that this was legal and in retaliation for about 12 thousand German civilians massacred in 'Poland', commencing just before Poland declared war against Germany, in the land running through Germany given to Poland by the Versailles treaties. The Germans often complained, without success, to the League of Nations about the approx. 60,000 German civilians killed before WW2.[reply]

The 'war crimes' issue should be discussed elsewhere unless it can be reliably proven to be linked to the 13th Panzer division.

Did members of the 13th Panzer commit the Katyn executions? Did they help kill 20,000 people in a village with an atomic bomb in Poland? It is mentioned in the Nuremberg Military proceedings and therefore we must all believe it.

I suggest readers examine Stalin's Torch-men order which required Russian soldiers to massacre Russians within 20-40 kilometres of the German army. They were to be rewarded for wearing German uniforms as they killed the local populations because Stalin well understood that many Russians would have joined the German army (almost a million did).

Thank you for your appropriate scepticism.

Merge

[edit]

This should probably be merged with 13th Panzer Division, although I don't have a real preference for which title it should be under. Carom 21:25, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge completed

[edit]

OK, I merged 13th Infantry Division and 13th Panzer Division into one article, and I believe I fixed all the double redirects that ensued. Carom 21:05, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poland?

[edit]

I can find no reference in 13th Panzer literature that they were stationed or fought in Poland. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.144.97.142 (talk) 01:38, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It did fight in Poland but had not yet been renamed from the 13th motorised infantry 213.89.224.71 (talk) 21:59, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
