Death of Richard Pershing in Khe Sahn?

[edit]

This article says that Pershing's grandson Richard Pershing was killed in action in 1968 while serving with the 502nd Infantry. The 502nd Infantry was never at Khe Sanh, which was manned by US Marine Corps units. Sloppy! 174.58.100.83 (talk) 20:27, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. He was killed near Hải Lăng district. Billmckern (talk) 00:24, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pershing's birth date

[edit]

Author John A. Filippello published in 2023 evidence that Pershing lied about his birth month. He appears to have advanced it from January 1860 to September 1860 so he would appear in summer 1882 to meet the maximum age requirement for West Point admission, which was 21. I left the recognized date of birth as September 1860, but included a note with these details, which also includes a reference to the magazine article Filippello authored.Billmckern (talk) 18:32, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
