Graphic description of suicide Unnecessary

[edit]

Based on the English Wikipedia guideline regarding Offensive Material

Wikipedia articles may contain offensive words and images, but only for a good reason. Do not use disclaimers.

It does not seem that the following portion of the "Suicide" section does not meet this standard.

One of the cameras remained focused on Dwyer and captured close-up footage of the aftermath of the shooting; as his body slumped, blood streamed from the exit wound in the back of his head as well as from his nostrils and mouth

I cannot ascertain the purpose of this graphic description, and therefore think its removal should be seriously considered. Forgive me if my proposal is not in line with wider standards on Wikipedia. I am not a frequent contributor so I hope my ignorance can be forgiven in this instance. Wagenenr (talk) 00:12, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

R. Budd DwyerBudd DwyerWP:COMMONNAME, Google Trends data shows that the term "Budd Dwyer" is overwhelmingly searched more than "R. Budd Dwyer". (https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=US&q=R.%20Budd%20Dwyer,Budd%20Dwyer&hl=en-US) Additionally, this seems to be the name most people, in the media and otherwise, addressed and addresses him as. • Oppose. As already pointed out by Nohomersryan, in encyclopedic, political, and even personal contexts, Dwyer is noted as R. Budd Dwyer. Donald Trump is colloquially referred to as just "Trump" to a lot of people, but it would be silly to move the Donald Trump article to "Trump". Archimedes157 (talk) 23:06, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Repetition

[edit]

The sentences

Blood ran out profusely through the back of his head and through his nose

and

blood streamed from the exit wound in the back of his head as well as from his nostrils and mouth.

have the exact same content and stand in very close proximity to one another (just 1-2 sentence/s apart). It's an unnecessary repetition. Nakonana (talk) 00:31, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
